ATLANTA PET PHOTOGRAPHER | FRENCH BULLDOG TURNS TWO

One of the highlights of this Valentine’s Day was photographing Drizzy, a French Bulldog with tons of personality. He was celebrating his 2nd birthday in style with his red bowtie and jean jacket.

So how do you prepare your furry friend for his photoshoot? Follow these tips below.

1. Grooming & Appearance

  • Brush their coat to remove tangles and loose fur. A well-groomed dog looks great on camera.

  • Bathe them if needed a day before to give their fur time to settle naturally.

  • Trim nails so they don’t snag on props or scratch surfaces.

  • Clean their eyes and ears to avoid any distracting dirt or discharge in close-up shots.

2. Exercise Beforehand

  • Take your dog for a walk or play with them before the shoot to burn off excess energy.

  • A tired (but not exhausted) dog is more likely to stay calm and cooperative.

3. Choose the Right Outfit & Accessories (If applicable)

  • If using clothing or accessories, make sure they’re comfortable and fit well.

  • Test them beforehand to ensure your dog is comfortable wearing them.

  • Keep it simple—bandanas, bow ties, or a stylish collar often work best.

4. Bring Treats & Favorite Toys

  • Treats help reinforce good behavior and keep their attention.

  • A favorite toy can be useful for engagement, focus, or play shots.

5. Practice Commands & Posing

  • Work on basic commands like sit, stay, and look to make posing easier.

  • If your dog isn’t used to sitting still, practice short photo sessions at home.

6. Pick a Comfortable Location

  • Choose a familiar place if your dog is easily distracted or anxious.

  • If going to a studio or outdoor location, visit it beforehand if possible.

7. Be Patient & Stay Positive

  • Dogs pick up on energy, so staying calm and encouraging helps them feel at ease.

  • Don’t stress if they don’t sit perfectly—candid moments often make the best shots.

8. Consider the Time of Day

  • If shooting outdoors, plan around natural lighting—early morning or late afternoon is best.

  • Avoid scheduling during your dog’s usual nap or feeding time to prevent crankiness.

How did he do? I think he was just perfect!❤️
