ROSWELL SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER BETH FORNUTO | Learn the Steps to Applying Makeup Like a PRO

How to Apply Makeup Like a PRO for Your Senior Session

  1. Prep your skin: Start by cleansing and moisturizing your skin to create a smooth base for your makeup.

  2. Apply primer: VERY IMPORTANT! Primer helps to fill in pores and fine lines, and also helps your makeup last longer. Apply a small amount to your entire face, focusing on areas that tend to get oily.

  3. Apply foundation: Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone and apply it evenly to your face, blending it outwards towards your hairline and jawline.

  4. Conceal under-eye circles and blemishes: Use a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation to cover any dark circles or blemishes. Blend it well with a beauty blender or brush.

  5. Set your makeup: Use a translucent setting powder to set your makeup in place and prevent any shine.

  6. Contour and highlight: Use a contour powder or cream to create depth and definition on your face, focusing on your cheekbones, temples, and jawline. Then, use a highlighter to add a glow to your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and your cupid's bow.

  7. Apply eye makeup: Apply eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara to enhance your eyes. Choose colors that complement your eye color and outfit.

  8. Fill in your brows: Use an eyebrow pencil or powder to fill in any sparse areas of your brows and create definition.

  9. Apply lipstick or lip gloss: Choose a lipstick or lip gloss that complements your outfit and apply it to your lips.

  10. Finish with setting spray: ALSO VERY IMPORTANT! Finish your makeup by spritzing your face with setting spray to lock your makeup in place and help it last longer.

These steps should help you achieve a polished, photo-ready look. Keep in mind that lighting and camera settings can also affect how you look in photos, so try to find a well-lit area and experiment with different angles to find your best angle.
