ATLANTA PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER | Rick Springfield Concert - Woodstock Amphitheatre
It was a pretty spectacular night in Woodstock, Georgia on Saturday. Rick Springfield was the headliner for the Summer Concert Series. The event started long before Saturday night. Lots of planning, several sponsors coming forward to allow this to be a FREE concert for the residents of our not-so-small-anymore town. On Friday morning at 6am, the park looked like a bustling Saturday night already with people arriving with chairs to get the perfect seat. By 10 am, the whole area was full.
We were lucky to get some really good seats so that I could take some pictures during the concert. Watching the show with my childhood friend who happened to be in from Florida was so much fun. This was our music when we were teenagers. Rick puts on a good show and had the energy of a 20-year-old.
The most surprising to me was how personal the whole experience was even though I was sitting 100 feet from the stage. Rick connects with the audience looking people right in the eye as if he is there just for them. He was honest and transparent, talking about his struggles with depression and the therapy that he continues to receive. Music is therapeutic and I hope the energy he received from Saturday’s crowd confirmed how valued, admired and loved he is to fans in America.
