READER'S CHOICE WINNER - BEST PHOTOGRAPHER IN WOODSTOCK, GEORGIA
It has taken me a minute to write this blog post - okay, well maybe it’s taken me 3 months. I may or may not have been waiting to take the perfect picture of my award but that never happened. I was both excited and humbled when I was awarded the title of best photographer in Woodstock, Georgia by my clients, friends and family. It meant the world to me!
I thought it would be nice to share with you my journey. I began taking photographs on my little brownie camera back in the early 70s. I was only 8. Through ever step of my journey, the camera has always been front and center. Through my undergraduate degree in Music, I took headshots for my fellow musicians. While completing my Master of Architecture degree, I found myself sneaking down to the studio (designed to be used to photograph architectural models) with REAL human models and anyone who would sit for me. I worked my way through school working for 2 different photographer shooting products and weddings and anything else that would help me hone my craft. Marriage, children and a move to Boston, MA forced me put my career on hold although I was a MOMographer like none other. To some photographers this is the beginning of their journey. For me, I was able to use my 8 year apprenticeship in photography to capture EVERY moment of my family’s existence with skill and precision.
In 2008, our family of 6 moved to Woodstock, Georgia. I instantly felt at home here. My kids thrived and my business was reborn. Photographing people has always been my passion and my community embraced that. I have watched many children grow up in front of my camera. I have seen businesses born and people retire. I have captured both happy and sad times. I have a catalogue of over 100,000 images stored on 2 places as to not lose anyone’s memories.
To those who took the time to vote for me, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is an honor to be the person who you choose to capture the important moments in your lives and creates heirloom portraits to cover your walls.
