10 Reasons Why You Should Book Your Senior Session in the Summer in Atlanta, Georgia

Summer senior session seem to be the most popular and it is no different this year for the Class of 2023.  My summer calendar fills up quickly, so it is smart to get on the schedule early.   As a mom of 4 graduates and a photographer to MANY others, I would have to say that summer sessions have the greatest benefits.  The reasons might be different than what you think.

1.    Your calendar should be open!

Like it or not, you are going to be BUSY senior year.  The classes may have settled down, but the activities, ceremonies and celebrations will increase 100%.  I would suggest you take advantage of the lazy days of summer when your responsibilities are fewer, and your calendar is wide open.

2.    Summer days are longer.

On June 21st you can expect 14 hours and 51 minutes of daylight!  This means that you can have your senior session in the morning when the temperature is cool and STILL have the whole day to do whatever you desire.  Time is on your side!

3.   Sun-kissed skin.

Most people look healthier in the summer.  There is something to be said about a summer tan from being outside in the fresh air, by the pool or at the park.  That summer glow makes you look great, feel confident and allows you to wear just about any color.

4.    Early summer light is soft and beautiful.

It is worth the compromise to get up early and get your session in before the heat of the day.  The summer morning sunlight is soft and just gorgeous.

5.   You don’t have to miss school or practice.

It is hard to miss class early in the year because once you are behind, it is hard to catch up.  Coaches don’t really like people to miss practice early in the season either.  If you get your portraits done early, you don’t have to worry about any of that.

6.   You can enjoy your senior portraits ALL SENIOR YEAR LONG.

This is one that many people don’t even take into account.  If you have your pictures taken in the summer, you can use the portraits for yearbook ads, resumes, college applications and scholarships not to mention beautiful portraits on your walls.

7.  You can check something off your list early.

You might not realize, but you will have A LOT of things you will need to check off your list.  Aside from the expected, there will be many things that come up that will occupy your time.  College applications take some time, pulling together all of your life’s accomplishments in order to present yourself as a worth candidate of a scholarship is time-consuming as well.  There will be ceremonies and celebrations all during the year.  How great would it feel to be ahead of the game?

8.   Location, location, location.

If you can imagine that summer has days that are up to 5.5 hours longer than the shortest day of the year, that leaves so much more time to hit locations that would otherwise be populated.  With the trees and flowers in bloom and lots of people out of town so that the crowds are less, the possibilities are endless.

9.   We get to be part of your SENIOR year.

We love to get to know you and follow your seasonal activities!  Are you a dancer, a cheerleader or an actress?  We would love to watch you do what you love and if we don’t get to meet you BEFORE senior year begins, we will miss out on being able to support you.

10.   People are generally happier in the summer!

It’s true.  The stress of school and responsibilities drag you down.  A beautiful summer day with the warm breeze and beautiful colors all around make for a more joyous disposition.  If you don’t believe me, ask my husband.  😊

So there you have it!  There are benefits to being photographed in every season (I will be sharing those as we get closer) but I don’t think I could up with TEN reasons for each.  Summer is just the most practical choice.  Believe me, you will thank me when May rolls around (like a freight train I may add) and you have all of your portraits done and ready to go!

Schedule a consult so we can talk about it.  Summer is short and my schedule fills up quickly.
Please don’t miss out!
