Jackson - Class of 2020

Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing Jackson. It had been nearly 10 years since we first met and I am sure he does not even remember our encounter at Bert Adams Boy Scout camp. I do have a picture to prove it and I would never forget his face. The boy - now an adult nearly old enough to vote - had the same quiet countenance I remembered as the shy scout standing reverently at a flag ceremony. Alot has changes as is typical of growing up, but teenaged Jackson is unmistakably the same contemplative soul, taking in every detail and not missing even the slightest.

I usually ask that my seniors bring something that speaks to what they have been up to the last 4 years. Sometimes that looks like sports equipment, a Letterman jacket, an instrument or a scouting uniform. I try to talk specifically to the one I am photographing but sometimes it is Mom who is the go-between. In Jackson’s case, I didn’t realize he dabbled in skateboarding until after I was tipped off to his popularity on social media. (Got to get together with him and take some pictures of that next!) There are just some things mom’s don’t share. It was towards the end of our session that I learned about Jackson’s car and we decided that it was worth going to get. What a fun way to finish off the night! He was obviously proud of it and I am sure that if it could talk it would tell of many adventures.

Best of luck to Jackson on the next 212 (or so) days until graduation. You are so easy going and quietly confident. Glad I could make you laugh!
